Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock After School Programs

Since 1997, Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock has been offering innovative arts programming to a diverse audience of children and young adults in schools and community groups throughout Northeast Los Angeles.

By bringing the arts back into LAUSD, we are investing in our youth.  We currently serve 11 elementary and middle schools in Northeast Los Angeles.  All of our teachers build their classes into a small community, where freedom of expression feels safe and positive.  The art classes are taught by local working artists and dancers, and the classes themselves are highly student-motivated and project-oriented.  The dance classes are taught by dancers specializing in experimental, contemporary practices.  By teaching non-traditional dance, the students in each class study physical expression, and explore using dance as a way to express emotion.  The class also learns basic yoga techniques and dance terminology.
