Not only is percussionist Nathan Hubbard one of San Diego’s most noteworthy creative musicians, he’s one of the West Coast’s most consistently interesting and inventive artists. Having played with countless other noteworthies, Hubbard continues to be a percussionist who is largely interested in extending the vocabulary of his instruments into the realm of adventurous and ear-opening sound-making properties. This has placed him in a wide variety of musical settings and has taken him into exploration of all sorts of techniques, including electronics. A soloist as well as bandleader, he currently leads trios, an octet, a large group (the Skeleton Key Orchestra), and collaborates in various duo settings. For this concert he brings a new trio up from San Diego featuring longtime Cosmologic comrade Jason Robinson on tenor saxophone and electric bassist/electronics guy Harley Magsino.
